Job Description:

Valley Forge Educational Services (VFES) seeks a dynamic educational leader to serve as Director of Education and Co-Leader of The Vanguard School.  In a shared leadership role with the Director of Clinical Services, the Director of Education will administer The Vanguard School’s special education program focusing on quality instruction and an integrated, multidisciplinary approach to classroom management to ensure the safety and welfare of all students and maintain compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. The successful candidate will be a strong communicator and team-player, skilled in classroom management interventions and developing good leaders and educators.  Reporting to the VFES Executive Director, the Director of Education will also serve as an integral member of the VFES leadership team.

Job Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in School Administration, Special Education, or a related field from an accredited institution; a doctoral degree is a plus
  • Current, valid Pennsylvania Principal (K-12) certification; additional certification as Supervisor of Special Education is strongly preferred
  • Five years’ experience teaching special education students, preferably students with ASD, NI, and ED
  • Three years’ supervisory experience in a special education environment including experience in leadership development, curriculum and instruction, and administering special education regulations
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the educational, therapeutic and behavioral needs of individuals with autism and emotional disturbance
  • Ability to plan, organize, and administer a school program with expectations of growth
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skill
