Surging, with help from our friends, into 2018

Thanks to everyone who attended the 2018 Economic Forecast Breakfast and Annual Meetings of The Main Line Chamber of Commerce and The Main Line Chamber Foundation in January.

For those who could not attend, when we look back on 2017, we saw outstanding success in several areas, as we continue to develop and improve all of our programs.

Our Society of Professional Women featured speakers that included the CEO of Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, the Chief Learning Officer of Comcast and a nationally known journalist who looked to the past to shed new light on the evolution of women in the workplace. Heading into its 9th year, SPW is the largest women in business networking group in Greater Philadelphia. If you have not been to one of our events, you should consider it. Find out more at

Our Signature Events are seeing renewed support as an increasing number of companies are deciding to sponsor a number of events at a time, spreading their marketing awareness and showing their support for all our work year around. These events provide high-level networking and quality content.

At a time when many organizations, including chambers of commerce, are seeing declines in membership – we are seeing more large and small-to-medium sized businesses join. Thanks in part to the value of membership, which has been enhanced by our Members First events and the encouragement we provide for members to do business with each other. Membership retention in 2017 was the highest in a decade.

We also successfully rolled out a new leadership development program, Leadership Principles & Profiles, that complements our 15-year-old Leadership Main Line program. And we are excited about the future of our Talent and Education Network, our employer collaborative formed to address skills gaps.

Our legislative events, Young Professionals, Business Card Exchanges and Network at Noon events are all drawing strong attendance. Our Nonprofit Roundtable is benefiting from new energy and expertise as we have brought on three new sponsors, each experts in the nonprofit world, for 2018.

We thank outgoing Chairman Dick Carpenter, representing IT services company Beyond Development, for his leadership. We welcome Kim Landry of Hollister Creative as Chair of the Board of Directors.

Thanks to the support and participation of our volunteers and members, the dedicated staff is committed to serving our members ever better in the year ahead. Thank you for your membership and support.
