Job Description:

The R&D Instrumentation Software Engineer will be responsible for major contributions to the R&D team that will take this game-changing technology platform from prototype to product. This individual will be responsible for designing and creating innovative software solutions to solve unique challenges for instrumentation control and data acquisition. They will also support the testing and analysis of software tools and applications being developed at MOBILion. This individual should be a creative problem solver and have experience troubleshooting systems to improve their performance.

The R&D Instrumentation Software Engineer will work closely with other scientists and engineers as well as project managers, and application scientists to ensure successful and timely execution of R&D activities. Working within the R&D department, this individual will have the opportunity to contribute to early phase research projects and have ownership over their design and execution. Experience in developing software solutions for networking platforms and embedded system design will be required as well.

Responsibilities
• Lead and manage projects developing code to solve challenges in the control of instrumentation and data acquisition/analysis
• Work with internal teams to implement functional specifications through coding, testing, and any required performance tuning
• Mentor and train junior developers
• Create test procedures and documentation to determine whether systems, subsystems, or components meet design and performance specifications
• Lead troubleshooting efforts with internal and external customers to quickly resolve issues
• Communicate effectively cross functionally with Engineers, Scientists, Field Engineers and business personnel.
• Participate in the development of product specifications with attention to system integration, feasibility and field supportability.
• Understanding MOBILion's strategic direction and contributing to those efforts wherever possible
• Adhere to policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure compliance with regulatory and industry standards and practices
• Adhere to project plans and budgets to achieve stated goals and objectives on schedule
• Generate, review, approve controlled documentation for all phases of development
• Participate in technical design reviews at system or subsystem levels

Job Requirements:

Required Qualifications:
• Bachelors degree in a science or engineering discipline
• 3+ years experience developing prototype instrumentation
• Proficient programming skills in one or more industry standard programming languages (Python, C, C++)
• Experience developing for and troubleshooting computer networks (TCP/IP)
• Experience interfacing with embedded systems
• Experience designing GUIs
• Demonstrated ability to manage small to medium projects with minimal supervision
• Strong communication skills and team-based mentality
• Strong troubleshooting ability
• Detail-oriented documentation-based approach to design activities
• Ability to work within the United States
• Willing to relocate to the Chadds Ford, PA region

Preferred Qualifications:
• Advanced science or engineering degree
• Mass spectrometry and/or ion mobility instrument development experience
• Experiencing developing embedded systems
• Experience working with Git
• Experience developing for both Linux and Windows
