Hydration, Recovery & Summer Energy

Published Wednesday, June 10, 2026 8:00 am

As summer arrives, many people become more active — spending longer days outdoors, golfing, walking, traveling, exercising, or returning to fitness routines after a long winter. One of the most overlooked aspects of performance and wellness during the warmer months is proper hydration and recovery.

Dehydration does not just affect athletes. Even mild dehydration can contribute to fatigue, headaches, muscle cramps, poor sleep, dizziness, and decreased focus. Adults over 40 are especially susceptible because our body’s ability to regulate hydration changes with age.

In my practice at RYEZ Health, we often encourage patients to think beyond simply “drinking more water.” Electrolyte balance, sleep quality, mobility, nutrition, muscle recovery, and metabolic health all play important roles in maintaining energy and resilience during the summer months.

This is also a great season to reassess lingering joint pain, reduced mobility, weight gain, or low energy levels that may have quietly developed over time. Small changes in movement, recovery habits, and preventive care can have a major impact on long-term healthspan and active living.

At RYEZ, our focus is helping patients move better, recover smarter, and stay active through a personalized, physician-led approach to sports medicine, longevity, and wellness care.

Wishing everyone a healthy and active summer season.
