Support our volunteer first responders
A general misconception that property taxes fully fund fire and emergency medical services — often the portion earmarked for these critical services — in reality covers less than half the cost to run the companies. Three of four households and 9 of 10 businesses in our area do not support these critical emergency services, largely due to this misconception. The remainder of funding must come from contributions, events, and other sources.
The Main Line is served by 17 volunteer fire companies and ambulance squads. Volunteer firefighters and EMTs are on call to serve our community 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days, every year. Due to this great need in our community, we strongly urge all residents and businesses to generously support and recognize their local volunteer fire company.
